Nike Alphafly 4 Goes Lighter

The Nike Alphafly 4 was rebuilt as a complete racing system rather than simply making the previous model faster. As a result, Nike says the shoe delivers 10% more energy return while being 5% lighter in a men’s size 8.5. Moreover, the updated construction is designed to help runners stay connected to their pace and form as fatigue builds throughout a marathon.

A New Racing Setup

At the heart of the shoe is new ZoomX LT foam, which is up to 17% lighter than standard ZoomX foam and offers 8% more energy return. It works together with existing ZoomX cushioning and the carbon-fiber Flyplate, which helps create a smooth, propulsive transition. Meanwhile, dual forefoot Air Zoom units add responsive cushioning under the foot.

Designed for a Secure Fit

Nike has also redesigned the upper with new Atomknit construction. The seamless design combines zoned midfoot cables, an integrated heel unit and a molded sock liner to provide a more precise and secure fit. In addition, the lightweight Fast Shot outsole is designed to deliver traction and grip throughout the race.

Built for Marathon Performance

Nike developed the Nike Alphafly 4 using athlete feedback, extensive women’s trials and research from the Nike Sport Research Lab. Therefore, the development process focused on stability, smoothness, comfort and efficiency as runners move deeper into a marathon. The shoe continues the Alphafly legacy associated with performances from athletes including Eliud Kipchoge, Sifan Hassan, Conner Mantz, Jacob Kiplimo and Addisu Gobena.

Release Date

The Nike Alphafly 4 received an early, limited release on September 17 through nike.com. However, broader availability will follow on October 29 through nike.com and select retail locations. The latest Alphafly joins Nike’s Racing footwear lineup, created for runners chasing different distances, performances and personal goals.
