Merging Converse’s design DNA and Nike’s innovation ethos with Vaquera’s avant-garde attitude, the partnership creates a daring fusion of nostalgia and provocation. Known for reimagining the familiar, Vaquera transforms recognizable silhouettes into expressive works of wearable art.
“We love to take something well-known like the Chuck and make it feel new,” says Bryn Taubensee, co-founder of Vaquera. “We kept a lot of the iconic elements of the Chuck but removed the laces and supersized the upper. The effect is something familiar while at the same time unknown and exciting.”
Reimagining the Iconic Chuck
Debuting during Vaquera’s Fall 2025 show, the Converse x Vaquera XXXHi and XHi Slouch Wedge distort proportion and movement. Hidden wedge soles lift the silhouette, while synthetic waxed canvas uppers soften with wear, revealing new textures over time. Classic Chuck details like pinstripes and patches are reframed through Vaquera’s irreverent storytelling.
The Air Max Dn8 Joins the Story
Under the NIKE, Inc. umbrella, Vaquera extends its romantic and rebellious vision to the Nike Air Max Dn8. As a result, it’s adding whimsical energy to cutting-edge Dynamic Air innovation.
“Romance is a major brand code at Vaquera,” says Patric DiCaprio, co-founder of Vaquera. “We covered the Dn8 with kiss marks. The effect is something playful and romantic while maintaining Nike’s high standard of functionality.”
