Nike has unveiled a one-of-one speed suit created with middle-distance star Keely Hodgkinson. Designed specifically around the demands of the 800-meter, the suit combines athlete insight, sport-science research and advanced apparel innovation in a highly personal racing system.

A Bespoke Approach to Speed
The Keely Hodgkinson speed suit was developed through close collaboration between the athlete, Nike designers, engineers and innovators. The result is a full-body design intended to minimize distractions while supporting freedom of movement and aerodynamic efficiency.
The suit uses a combination of fabrics, minimal seams and no closures. An articulated back knee helps the material remain smooth through maximum flexion, while a patented 4D mobility gusset and large underarm and back openings support movement and thermoregulation. Nike says the final suit was primarily handcrafted at its LeBron James Innovation Center.
Aerodynamics Meet Personal Style
One of the most distinctive elements is the hood, which is designed to streamline the hairline while managing the aerodynamic effect of hair during a race. A dedicated opening allows Hodgkinson’s ponytail to remain part of the look, while structural details accommodate her Nike Vision Airelon Force E sunglasses.
The black design is complemented by Nike’s latest vortex generators. These 3D-printed, delta-shaped elements are computationally positioned across areas including the shoulders, torso, thighs and hood. According to Nike, they generate controlled vortices that help reduce the low-pressure wake behind the athlete and therefore limit aerodynamic drag.
Built Around the 800-Meter
Nike developed the suit around the specific physical demands of Hodgkinson’s signature event. The 800-meter combines sprinting speed with sustained endurance, making movement efficiency and aerodynamic considerations particularly important.
The collaboration also follows Nike’s longer history of developing athlete-specific racing innovations. The brand previously explored aerodynamic apparel through projects including Project Swift, TurboSpeed and the 2025 Nike Fly Suit created for Faith Kipyegon’s Breaking4 attempt.
The Nike Victory Elite
The speed suit is paired with the new Nike Victory Elite, the latest development in Nike’s middle-distance spike family. It features a full-length carbon-fiber top plate, a tuned forefoot Air Zoom unit, a lighter carbon outsole plate with titanium pins and a lightweight yarn upper.
The spike uses six pins, with Nike removing additional traction elements to reduce weight. Its black-and-gold color treatment also matches the visual identity of Hodgkinson’s speed suit and her signature Nike Running collection.
The result is a highly individual racing system that brings together aerodynamic research, technical apparel construction and Hodgkinson’s own design preferences — extending Nike’s approach to athlete-specific innovation onto the track.
