The new silhouette merges technical innovation with expressive design and invites a new generation to experience the latest evolution of Nike Air. The model draws on more than forty years of Nike Air Max innovation. Designers combined those learnings with a fresh approach that focuses on simplicity, comfort, and modern aesthetics. “Air Max is as much about iterating and innovating as it is about consistently creating the future of Nike sportswear,” says Andy Caine. “The Air Liquid Max is a testament to Nike design excellence and tenacity — and a reminder that when we enhance and improve the Air experience, we also inspire Nike designers to deliver something entirely new.”

Point-Loaded Air for Next-Level Comfort

The Liquid Max introduces a refined approach to cushioning. Nike engineers developed a contoured Air unit designed to sit intentionally low to the ground. This system uses point-loaded Air, placing cushioning exactly where it is needed underfoot. Surrounding areas feature cored-out negative space, which reduces weight and eliminates unnecessary material. The result is a smooth and stable ride that encourages fluid transitions with every step. “The Nike Air Liquid Max connects science to art, creating a kind of irreverence and telling an amazing story of function and aesthetics,” says TaeYong Lee. “With this shoe, we’re cutting through the noise and inviting today’s generation to experience a new evolution of Air Max.”

A Futuristic Upper Inspired by Nature

The sneaker’s visual identity stands out immediately. Its low-profile mesh upper features three-layer textured printing that delivers both structure and depth. From a distance, the upper appears clean and unified. Up close, the layered prints reveal subtle height differences and tactile details. “The Nike Air Liquid Max rethinks everything about how we add distinction through color and materials,” says Marya Chan. “From far away, the upper looks very unified. But as you get closer, you see the three layers of printing at various heights, adding tactility that’s surprising to the touch.” The design also takes inspiration from the vivid warning colors of the Poison Dart Frog, whose distinctive toe pads helped inspire the sneaker’s visual language.

Launch Colorway: Bold, Bright, and Unmistakable

Nike translates that amphibian inspiration into the debut colorway. The design features dramatic green tones paired with a chrome Swoosh. A glossy, seamless finish adds futuristic appeal, while a translucent rubber outsole completes the striking look. “For the poison dart frog, color is confidence and boldness is protection,” explains Mike McCoy. “We built the Nike Air Liquid Max in this image, as a silhouette that feels a little dangerous and mysterious.”
