The Nike Pegasus Premium features a sculpted Air Zoom unit, shaped to match the foot’s natural profile. It efficiently transfers energy from heel strike to toe-off, delivering unmatched responsiveness. Unlike flat Air Zoom units, this version enables a springy, smooth transition with every step.
The midsole contains ZoomX foam, known for its lightweight feel and high energy return. Meanwhile, the heel includes ReactX foam, providing long-lasting comfort. This combination ensures a propulsive ride, making the Pegasus Premium the most energy-efficient model in the Pegasus franchise to date.
Advanced Technology Behind the Pegasus Premium
Nike used computational design and AI-driven testing to develop the sculpted Air Zoom unit. Finite element analysis helped researchers predict how the unit would respond to repeated running impact, ensuring durability and efficiency.
For added support, the upper uses circular knit material, reinforced in key areas for a secure fit. The dynamic midfoot system, also seen in past Pegasus models, improves lockdown for a stable feel during runs.

In running, when we combine Air with components like midfoot plates and with platforms like our proprietary foams, we create superior systems for performance. For the Peg Premium, we wanted runners to get the most energy return possible out of the sculpted Air Zoom unit. Not only does it double as a spring-like mechanism, the Air unit is also designed to engage with the entirety of your foot, no matter your gait pattern or stride length.”
To bring this vision to life, Nike’s designers, engineers, and researchers collaborated across Nike Air Manufacturing Innovation, the Nike Running team, and the Nike Sport Research Lab. By gathering insights from elite and everyday runners, Nike fine-tuned the underfoot experience.
