Nike is redefining race medals with a bold new vision for the Nike After Dark Tour, a global running event designed to celebrate and empower women in sport. As runners prepare to take on 10K and half-marathon challenges across six major cities, Nike introduces an innovative medal that seamlessly blends style, technology, and the spirit of the race.

A Medal Beyond the Finish Line

Nike’s first sweatproof, reflective necklace doubles as a reimagined race medal, exclusive to Nike After Dark Tour finishers. Created by an almost all-women team of designers, engineers, and developers, this piece incorporates advanced materials and computational design, offering both durability and elegance. The pendant’s reflective Swoosh mirrors the elevation of the Nike After Dark Tour racecourses, while the shoelace-inspired chain pays homage to Nike’s running heritage. Engraved aglets commemorate the event, and a magnetic closure ensures an easy, adjustable fit.

The design was shaped by feedback from Nike’s women’s running forum, including insights from elite athletes. The result is a bespoke piece that reflects both personal achievement and community spirit, encouraging runners to wear their success beyond race day.

The Ultimate Running Experience

The Nike After Dark Tour is more than a race—it’s a movement dedicated to fostering community, confidence, and self-expression. The event spans six cities: Sydney, Shanghai, Seoul, Mumbai, Los Angeles, and Mexico City, offering an electrifying nighttime race atmosphere.

To help runners prepare, Nike provides a holistic training program featuring digital plans, Nike coaching, local run club meetups, and community events. Additionally, Athletes can access tailored 10K and half-marathon training plans via the Nike Run Club app, developed by Nike Run Coach Diljeet Taylor. The six-week 10K plan and 12-week half-marathon plan aim to build endurance and confidence for all participants.

Expanding the Experience

Nike is extending the Nike After Dark Tour experience with virtual engagement. For this reason, the Nike Run Club app introduces a digital race series, featuring six global challenges that mirror each city’s event. Runners who complete a challenge earn a digital badge and Hyperice discount code, reinforcing Nike’s commitment to accessible, community-driven fitness.

Further enhancing recovery, Nike has partnered with Hyperice, offering post-race recovery zones at each event. Athletes will have access to top-tier recovery technology, ensuring optimal performance and well-being before, during, and after their races.

A Celebration of Women in Running

Nike’s dedication to women in sport extends beyond this event. Seema Simmons, VP of Global Women’s Running and Training, emphasizes the tour’s deeper purpose: “The Nike After Dark Tour is about more than crossing a finish line—it’s about joining a community that supports and uplifts you, no matter where you are in your running journey.

With a blend of cutting-edge performance gear, a vibrant community, and a revolutionary race medal, the Nike After Dark Tour reaffirms Nike’s mission to empower women in sport. The first race kicks off April 12 in Sydney, concluding June 21 in Mexico City.
