PUMA Launches Black Station 2: A Metaverse Platform for Phygital Footwear

PUMA has just launched Black Station 2, a metaverse platform that bridges the digital and physical worlds, allowing you to purchase phygital footwear. What is phygital footwear, you ask? It is footwear that exists both in the digital and physical realms, giving you the best of both worlds.
Black Station 2 is an expansion to its initial Black Station debut last September as part of New York Fashion Week. Originally it was a dynamic and interactive destination where you could view and purchase exclusive digital collectibles that could then be redeemed for physical PUMA sneakers. Black Station 2 is an expanded immersive experience that features two distinct and explorable “worlds”, each revealing new innovative footwear designs.
The Worlds of Black Station 2
The first world, Unkai, is inspired by the Japanese city, Shibuya, whose bright colors and energetic elements translate directly onto the footwear. The second world, Unter, is inspired by Berlin’s club culture with design elements that reflect the underground club scene.
In each world, you will have access to not only explore but also gain access to never-seen-before phygital footwear. The first footwear release within Black Station 2 will be the Fast-RB. With unique configuration of PUMA’s pinnacle running technologies, Fast-RB features four optimally placed NITRO pods and three PWRPLATES. As a result, it delivers a unique bouncy running sensation unlike anything else on the market. Other notable Fast-RB features include:
– INITRO – An innovative Nitrogen–infused foam technology offering superior responsiveness in an extremely lightweight package

The Black Station 2
Throughout Black Station 2, PUMA Pass NFT holders – previously called Nitro Collection – will have the option to purchase a Materializer NFT (“to-be-produced” physical) and/or Digital Collectible NFT. A maximum of 4,000 of each NFT will be available to purchase throughout the week.
Black Station 2 is a groundbreaking initiative that showcases PUMA’s vision of reimagining the omnichannel shopping experience through the metaverse. By creating phygital footwear that can be worn both online and offline, PUMA is blurring the boundaries between reality and virtuality, and offering its community a new way to express themselves and connect with others.
PUMA is celebrating its 75th anniversary by showcasing its web3 presence as an innovative and immersive retail platform. The company has been exploring various web3 projects, such as partnering with 10KTF, a narrative NFT project that features a virtual Tokyo and digital clothing for PFPs, launching its Super PUMA PFP NFT in early 2023, and updating its Nitro Collection NFT to PUMA Pass, which grants holders exclusive access to new products.
As one of the highlights of PUMA’s web3 strategy, the Black Station 2 allows users to purchase limited-edition PUMA NFTs using either cryptocurrency or credit cards, thanks to the web3 infrastructure provided by MoonPay. MoonPay’s HyperMint and NFT Checkout products enable the smart contract, minting, and purchasing of the NFTs in USD.
