PUMA announced the introduction of their third basketball silhouette – the Clyde Hardwood. The newest sneaker was officially unveiled by former and present New York Knicks and PUMA Hoops players at an event in in New York City on Monday, September 16th. In addition to debuting the shoes, highly anticipated Rookie, RJ Barrett, second-year Forward, Kevin Knox, and NBA legend, Clyde Frazier discussed the evolution of PUMA Hoops basketball from the brand’s decades-long history in the sport.
The Clyde Hardwood, inspired by the original PUMA Clyde sneakers that Frazier wore on the court in the 70s, boasts an OG look paying tribute to PUMA’s rich sports heritage while designed with a lifestyle-first inspired construction. Updated to include today’s latest performance technology, the result is a perfect hybrid shoe, designed to be worn seamlessly on and off the court. Key features include vintage materials and old school design lines, while the on-court performance of the shoe includes engineered lacing systems, a ProFoam midsole, and a specially tuned traction pattern for the court.
The Clyde Hardwood joins one of the brand’s most recognizable shoe franchises – The Clyde – on the heels of the release of the Clyde Court basketball shoe last year. Clyde himself was the first NBA player to truly represent on-court and off-court swagger and the Hardwood represents that mindset.
This shoe launch comes ahead of the 2019-20 basketball season and the brand’s announcement of their latest player signee, RJ Barrett, to the PUMA Hoops’ star-studded NBA roster, will debut the Hardwood sneakers on-court at the start of the NBA season on October 22nd.
Retailing for 120€, the Clyde Hardwood will come in three different colorways and will be available in-stores and online at PUMA.com starting October 18th.
