How does Aerogami work?
It’s simple: Tiny winged vents open as sweat builds against the skin, allowing better airflow and for sweat to escape. When the body cools down and sweat dries, the vents close back up. This capability comes from a moisture-reactive film applied to the vents. These vents autonomously contract and expand upon sensing sweat against the body.
The new Nike Run Division Aerogami Jacket features a venting system across the chest and back of the garment. These two areas are where runners heat up and sweat most. As a result, it allows airflow to travel through the jacket as runners move.
Straight outta Nike Sport Research Labs
Informed by testing in the Nike Sport Research Lab’s environmental chambers and data visualization from runners’ heat and sweat maps, the vent placement varies between the women’s and men’s jacket to accommodate gender-specific needs, such as vents on the women’s jacket around the area where a sports bra sits.
“Aerogami is our latest example of Nike’s culture of innovation focused on solving the timeless needs of runners,” says Jahan Behbahany, Senior Apparel Innovation Product Manager in Nike’s Advanced Innovation Collective. “We know feeling too warm, uncomfortable and distracted while wearing a running jacket is a common challenge many runners face, so we’ve obsessed with developing an innovative solution that gives them increased breathability without compromising style and protection. What’s great about this technology is not only can the athlete feel the benefit, but they can also see it in action.”
The Nike Run Division Aerogami Jacket is part of the Nike Run Division collection, which offers versatile pieces that can be layered together for any run and any weather. Additionally, the jacket is lightweight, water-repellent, and packable, making it easy to carry with you on your run. It also features reflective details for visibility in low-light conditions.
