Instead of limiting Infrared to the heel and toe, the color extended across most of the midsole. That bolder execution separated it from every retail version that followed. For nearly 30 years, the sample remained unseen outside internal Jordan Brand circles.
Updated Shape and Authentic Construction
In spring 2026, the Air Jordan 6 Infrared “Salesman” finally brings that concept to life. The shoe features a black nubuck upper, expanded Infrared midsole coverage, a visible Air unit in the heel, and a Dynamic Fit inner sleeve.
Importantly, this is the first non-collaboration AJ6 to receive an updated shape that closely mirrors the original 1991 silhouette. The internal bootie has been revised to achieve a more accurate toe profile. Additionally, the tongue height has been raised by 2mm to match Jordan’s game-worn pairs.
The Infrared shade was reverse engineered by comparing the 1991 and 2000 releases side by side, ensuring precise historical accuracy.
Sample Details and Full Infrared Collection
To underline its origins, the shoe includes sample text printed on the inner collar. Factory-style packaging and a traditional hangtag reflect how footwear samples are presented to retailers before production.
Alongside the footwear, an apparel pack featuring classic Infrared Jordan Brand graphics completes the launch. Additional releases, including an Air Jordan 1 Low and the Flight Court, extend the Infrared story beyond the AJ6.
