PUMA x Rhuigi: A Tribute to New York Basketball Culture and Heritage

PUMA and Rhuigi have teamed up once again to deliver the fourth installment of their “New York Worldwide” collection, a tribute to the city’s basketball culture and heritage. As a result, the collection features a mix of retro and modern styles, inspired by the legends and the future of the game in the Big Apple.

The Clyde Mid is the highlight of the collection. This take is a mid-top version of the classic PUMA Clyde. Walt “Clyde” Frazier, one of the most iconic players in New York Knicks history, used to wear that shoe. With this in mind, the shoe comes in a timeless colorway with a vintage look. It features a pre-yellowed sole and a leather upper with perforations. The shoe also has “New York Worldwide” branding on the tongue and heel, as well as Rhuigi’s signature rhino logo on the lateral side.

In addition, a range of apparel items complements the footwear collection. The range includes a graphic tee, basketball shorts, and an oversized tote. In detail, the pieces are adorned with “New York Worldwide” graphics that celebrate the city’s influence on music, style, and culture around the world. The graphics also incorporate elements of Americana, such as stars and stripes, to reflect Rhuigi’s design aesthetic.

The campaign stars RJ Barrett. RJ is the rising star of the New York Knicks and one of the most promising talents in the NBA. He is joined by Clyde Frazier himself, who represents the legacy and the spirit of New York basketball. Together, they showcase the collection in various locations across the city, from Madison Square Garden to Harlem.

The PUMA x Rhuigi “New York Worldwide” collection will be available from May 27, 2023 at PUMA flagship stores, PUMA.com, and select retailers.
