Actor, comedian, writer, director, producer, singer, songwriter, rapper and DJ, Donald Glover does all of these and always surprises. Directed by “Atlanta” director Hiro Murai, released on May 6th 2018 the video is pretty complex and full of messages. Combines a joyful gospel choir singing “We just wanna party, party just for you” followed by a dark beat drop. It changes lyrically and musically bringing up police brutality, agitation in the background, racial stereotypes and gun control laws as part of American experience. Of course, if you keep your eyes off shirtless Gambino and his dance moves, you can see a lot of stuff going on in the background.
Very creative and talented as he is, Gambino’s piece is going viral. SZA is featured in the video as well. Artists Young Thug, Blocboy JB, Slim Jxmmi, Young Thug, & 21 Savage and Quavo take turns rapping and their voices can be slightly differentiated from each other. Ludwig Göransson is behind track production. Donald Glover stated he will release a forth and last album as Childish Gambino. Smells like a Grammy Nomination and a lot of speculation about the video and song.
