Only the adidas x Bad Bunny collaboration could celebrate five impactful years by transforming Puerto Rico into a living cultural tribute.

Celebrating five years of creative synergy, adidas Originals and global superstar Bad Bunny returned home. Their mission? Transforming Puerto Rico into an immersive cultural celebration. The timing couldn’t be more perfect—coinciding with Bad Bunny’s historic “No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí” residency at San Juan’s Coliseo. Through this unforgettable experience, the brand masterfully merged sport, identity, and storytelling into one dynamic statement.

Formula 1 Meets Cultural Legacy

In an unprecedented move, adidas joined forces with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team. Together, they brought Formula 1 racing to Puerto Rican streets for the first time ever. Over 12,000 excited spectators lined Puente Dos Hermanos, eagerly watching Esteban Gutiérrez perform high-energy stunts. This landmark demonstration didn’t just thrill fans—it amplified adidas’s dedication to creating groundbreaking cultural moments.

Alongside the thrilling street demo, adidas and Mercedes-Benz brought another surprise near the Coliseo. A pop-up exhibition appeared, showcasing authentic race gear and memorabilia. The event peaked when Bad Bunny debuted the highly anticipated AdiRacer GT sneaker live on stage. In this iconic moment, motorsport, music, and sneaker culture seamlessly blended into one unforgettable experience.

Puerto Rico Para El Mundo

Taking its connection to Puerto Rican culture even deeper, adidas unveiled “The Archive: Puerto Rico Para El Mundo” at the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico. This remarkable exhibit featured over 150 items—including more than 115 never-before-seen sneakers. Visitors gained an exclusive look into the collaboration’s creative evolution. To further enrich the experience, designer Willy Chavarria joined an intimate panel discussion. There, he shared unique insights into the partnership’s innovative journey and teased his upcoming Oaxaca footwear collection, inspired by traditional Mexican huaraches and Chicano street style.

The archive didn’t stop there—it also spotlighted memorable artifacts from the collaboration. Among them were Bad Bunny’s custom Messi campaign shoes and the eye-catching Coachella flower cube replica. Fans even got a first glimpse of the new “Vega Baja” silhouette from the Gazelle City Series. For the first time ever, all four shoes from the collection stood proudly side-by-side, marking a special moment in sneaker history.

A Homecoming Rooted in Identity

Deepening this cultural connection, adidas hosted a meaningful dinner crafted by award-winning chef Natalia Vallejo, celebrating Puerto Rican identity and heritage through cuisine. Held at Cocina al Fondo, students from San Juan served as hosts, emphasizing the significance of remembering roots in storytelling.

The weekend’s celebrations peaked at San Juan’s iconic La Factoría bar, where culinary collective Oriundo curated a vibrant local menu. Here, adidas and its collaborators exchanged ideas, celebrating Puerto Rico’s unique cultural fabric.

Looking Forward: adidas Originals and Bad Bunny’s Cultural Impact

By fusing fashion, sport, music, and local culture, this adidas x Bad Bunny collaboration reaffirms its legacy as a powerful force shaping global creativity. This anniversary takeover was more than a celebration—it was a declaration of Puerto Rico’s rich cultural identity, innovation, and lasting impact.
