Global sports brand PUMA has set ambitious Vision 2030 sustainability goals focused on climate, circularity, and human rights. Building on its progress in recent years, PUMA’s new objectives demonstrate an intensified commitment to both environmental and social responsibility.

Leading in Climate Action with Science-Based Targets

PUMA’s Vision 2030 includes ambitious greenhouse gas reduction goals approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). These targets align with the global 1.5-degree climate scenario. By 2030, PUMA aims to cut its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 90% from 2017 levels, while also reducing Scope 3 emissions in its supply chain by 33%. This commitment to lowering its carbon footprint supports PUMA’s growth without increasing its environmental impact.

PUMA has already made significant strides. In 2023, the brand reported a 24% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to 2022. With a stronger push toward renewable energy for its suppliers and a shift to low-carbon materials, PUMA’s approach to decarbonization is setting a benchmark. These efforts have earned it recognition from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and others, solidifying its position as a sustainability leader.

Driving Circularity with Sustainable Materials and Business Models

In Vision 2030, PUMA also emphasizes circularity, aiming to expand textile recycling and explore circular business models like resale and repair in select markets. By 2030, PUMA plans to use 100% recycled polyester fabric, with 30% being Fibre-to-Fibre recycled. It also aims for 20% of its cotton fabric to come from recycled sources. These plans build on the brand’s RE:FIBRE program, which has already produced millions of replica jerseys from recycled textiles.

PUMA is further investing in next-generation materials, particularly in footwear. By integrating circularity into its design and production processes, the company is taking critical steps toward reducing waste and improving resource efficiency.

Prioritizing Human Rights and Workplace Equity

PUMA’s Vision 2030 also highlights its commitment to human rights in both its own operations and its supply chain. The brand aims to close the gender pay gap and foster diversity, equity, and inclusion across its workplaces. For its supply chain, PUMA is committed to training 400,000 workers on human rights, ensuring progress toward living wages, and eliminating the gender pay gap by 2030. This focus reflects PUMA’s dedication to fair working conditions for everyone involved in its supply chain.
