Eminem had been open about his battle with drugs since 2007 when an OD on methadone took him a step away from death , as his organs were already shutting down .
“The doctors told me I’d done the equivalent of four bags of heroin…Had I got to the hospital about two hours later, I would have died “
It took him about a month to relapse , but claims that looking at his kids and thinking he needed to be there for them was an important factor in his decision to set himself in a gruelling detox programme .
