The Vans Skate Old Skool 36+ by Carpet Company reimagines the legendary Old Skool, blending vintage inspiration with modern updates for a limited release.
Vans and Carpet Company are back with a fresh take on the Old Skool™, launching the Vans Skate Old Skool 36+ on January 9, 2025. This updated version takes inspiration from the OG Style 36 that debuted in 1977. It blends classic design with modern performance features, making it the perfect mix of style and function.

A Nod to the Past with Modern Updates
The Skate Old Skool 36+ retains its classic roots but adds several key upgrades. It includes a single-wrap foxing, a padded tongue for comfort, and durable metal eyelets. These features enhance the durability of the sneaker. Additionally, the PopCush™ insoles absorb impact, while the Sickstick™ rubber outsoles provide high traction. Duracap™ overlays increase the shoe’s toughness. Only 1,977 pairs will be released, a tribute to the year the Old Skool™ first launched.
Premium Materials and Unique Features
Crafted with premium materials, the Skate Old Skool 36+ uses faux croc skin to connect this release to the Fall 2024 Vans x Carpet Company collaboration. The sneaker also channels the original yellow and black colorway of the Style 36. It stands out with custom labels featuring Arabic text, Velcro tongue patches, embroidery, and die-cut rubber logos on the waffle tread. The collection includes a Baggy Fit Fleece pullover and pants, both with antique wash and a hologram logo patch. Plus, it features a custom Carpet-branded bag.

A Glimpse into Alternate Realities
Accompanying the release is a video campaign lookbook, imagining the world without the Old Skool. The campaign explores how skate and music legends like J Mascis, Ray Barbee, and Tony Alva might have shaped their careers without this iconic sneaker. The commercial, inspired by the butterfly effect, shows how the Old Skool impacted culture and style.
