Stone Island and New Balance Drop the 574 Legacy Model
Stone Island and New Balance have joined forces once again to unveil the second drop of the New Balance 574 Legacy model. This release showcases Stone Island’s unparalleled expertise in color research and experimentation. Over the years, Stone Island has crafted more than 60,000 dye recipes, a testament to their mastery. The new 574 Legacy features two distinctive colorways in shades of green, mustard yellow, and grey, drawing inspiration from archival items dating back to 1988. In detail, these colors echo the AW ’88-’89 mid-green silk-effect polyester microfiber outer piece and the deep grey Panno Jacquard inner shell edged with mustard yellow stripes.
A Rich Tapestry of Textures and Materials
The latest iterations of the 574 Legacy are a testament to Stone Island’s rich archive of materials spanning collections from 1987-1989. For example, this collaboration infuses New Balance’s historic silhouette with an unexpected multi-textural approach. Nubuck overlays a ripstop upper inspired by an AW ’88-’89 archive shell crafted from heat-sealed PVC. The iconic New Balance ‘N’ logo features a texture reminiscent of the rubber elbow patch on a SS ’88 RAW CANVAS blouson. Finally, a nylon tongue and terry collar based on the iridescent AW ’88-’89 Nylon Ripstop short parka, alongside a Stone Island Compass logo patch on the tongue inspired by an archival badge with green stitching, complete the design.
Seamless Fusion of Style and Function
This collaboration seamlessly blends utilitarian inspiration and innovation with everyday wearability. Reflective heel tabs, an EVA foam midsole with ENCAP technology, and a rubber outsole ensure both style and functionality. The Stone Island and New Balance 574 Legacy model will be available starting June 12th in selected Stone Island stores and online at stoneisland.com.
