The NikeCraft Mars Yard 3.0 is here, redefining sneaker culture once again with Tom Sachs’ signature blend of art, tech, and discipline.
The Evolution Continues
Tom Sachs and NikeCraft are back with the long-anticipated NikeCraft Mars Yard 3.0, the first update to the legendary silhouette since 2017. At first glance, the sneaker may look unchanged. But Sachs insists: “Every single thing is completely new.” From the tooling and outsole to the packaging, nothing was left untouched—yet everything remains familiar.

Built for “the sport of sculpture,” the Mars Yard 3.0 reflects Sachs’ ongoing obsession with durability, purpose, and process. New additions include a natural rubber outsole for enhanced traction, React foam cushioning paired with a carbon fiber shank for stability, and TPU clips at the toe and heel for added structure and support. The design honors the original’s earthy colorway but introduces a silkscreen-printed Swoosh for the first time.

A Shoe You Must Earn
What makes the Mars Yard 3.0 truly unique is how you get it. This isn’t a regular release—it’s a ritual. Sachs has developed a global digital platform called I.S.R.U. (In-Situ Resource Utilization), an app offering weekly challenges that build discipline and break old habits. By participating, users earn eligibility to purchase the sneaker.
“These shoes are hard to get—and they should be,” Sachs explains. “The real reward is the process. Do the challenges that resonate with you. I can’t promise the shoes, but I can promise your life will improve.”
Each challenge, from physical tasks to reflective prompts, builds positive routines through action. NikeCraft shares new drops and updates weekly on Instagram and the I.S.R.U. app.

A Documentary, A Mission
Releasing alongside the shoe is A Brief History of the Mars Yard, a new documentary showcasing the journey of the NikeCraft project. For Sachs, the Mars Yard is more than footwear—it’s a vessel for ideas, a public art piece designed to live on the streets.
“The values of NikeCraft haven’t changed,” Sachs says. “But they’ve been refined. Art is in everything.”
Looking Forward: The NikeCraft Mars Yard 3.0 Impact
The NikeCraft Mars Yard 3.0 isn’t just a shoe—it’s a challenge to reimagine how sneakers are released, used, and appreciated. With a worldwide launch via the I.S.R.U. app and a renewed commitment to craftsmanship and routine, this drop pushes the boundaries of both design and discipline.
Eligible participants can purchase the Mars Yard 3.0 starting September 5 via store.tomsachs.com. Download the app at NikeCraft.com and take the first step toward earning your pair.
