Mizuno x Buaisou: An Indigo Workshop Series
Mizuno teamed up with the Buaisou team during the Paris Olympics for an exclusive 3-day workshop. The event showcased the limited-edition Buaisou x Mizuno Wave Rider B, with only 300 pairs released. This gathering brought together a mix of sneaker enthusiasts, influencers, media, athletes, and retail partners.
Connecting Paris to Japan: Tradition Meets Sneaker Culture
The workshops spanned iconic locations like SHINZO Paris and the Mizuno House, located in the heart of Paris. Attendees had the chance to immerse themselves in the Japanese art of indigo dyeing under the guidance of Buaisou artists. This dyeing process is an ancient and intricate craft, requiring 1.5 years to prepare the indigo mixture. The actual dyeing and rinsing process takes only a few minutes but is crucial to achieving the perfect tone on the “Sashiko pack,” which includes the Wave Rider B and Wave Rider 10.
The Perfect Canvas for Indigo Dye
The Wave Rider B and Wave Rider 10 served as the ideal canvas for this unique dyeing experiment. Both models, in their off-white colorways, allowed the indigo dye to bring out the rich textures and deep hues. Workshop participants were fully involved in the process, many of them leaving with their hands dyed indigo blue—a memorable connection to Japanese craftsmanship.
A Rewarding Experience for All
Despite the hard work and intensity, the event was a great success. Participants—whether sneakerheads, retail partners, or influencers—left feeling inspired. The creative energy was undeniable, and seeing everyone so engaged and curious was the ultimate reward for the Mizuno team.
