Fresh off the back of the buzzworthy launch of his comically oversized ‘Superstuffed’ Superstar sneakers, Kerwin Frost returns to present his first full collaborative collection with adidas Originals. Infusing the brand with youthful energy and the lexicon of Kerwin’s childhood, the enigmatic cultural-polymath that never fails to get everyone talking brings his inimitable lens a suite of apparel and footwear pieces.
“Creating this collection with adidas has been a dream since I was a child. Designing the product and planning the rollout has been such a wild ride – it’s so crazy that it’s going to exist in the world finally!” says Frost. “I hope people are excited when they see the pieces and it makes them feel something. My main message is to not be afraid to try new things and put your thoughts on paper and definitely not give a damn what people think.”
The collection offers an aesthetic inspired by nostalgic imagery and throwback clothing trends. The family of graphic characters represents familiar faces you may have seen in your childhood, but instead of being cute and comforting, they create a sense of surrealism and fantasy. The collection features oversized t-shirts, jean shorts, fuzzy jackets, and a chile tracksuit, creating a world of fun and a safe space for true independence, with bright and bold colors. The freeness felt in the design allows the consumer to feel unique and confident.
Turning to footwear, Frost reimagines the adidas Originals Forum High and Forum Low like only he can. Subverting the iconic white and blue Forum silhouette, the KF Forum Hi Humanchives sneaker boasts the addition of a TPU molded Nose shaped lace jewel, a silicone mouth on the toe bumper and Kerwin Frost branding on the ankle strap. Meanwhile, the KF Forum Lo Benchmate is brought to life with the printed addition of the collection’s family of graphic characters and is made up in a striking Clear Mint/Bright Blue/Solar Yellow colorway.
The collection is then brought to life with a playfully energetic lookbook shot by Vijat Mohindra and starring Chief Keef.
Undeniably fun, youthfully naïve, and distinctly carefree, the first full adidas Originals by Kerwin Frost collection launches globally on November 17th and is available via Confirmed and select retailers.
