Vault by Vans and Gallery Dept. first made waves with their OG Old Skool LX collaboration. This fusion of streetwear and fine art captivated sneaker enthusiasts. Now, the Gallery Dept. x Vans partnership evolves through OTW by Vans with a fresh take on the Authentic 44. This time, they channel the raw energy of a painter’s studio into every detail.

Art Meets Craft in the Vans x Gallery Dept. Authentic 44
Continuing their commitment to disruptive artistry, Vans and Gallery Dept. introduce the OTW Authentic 44. Each pair embodies handcrafted imperfection. Paint drips cascade across the toe, while grease marks add depth to the vamp and sidewalls. Unlike the previous Old Skool LX, which featured a distressed suede upper, this release has a cleaner quarter panel. This design choice allows the painted details to take center stage.
The collaboration embraces spontaneity and raw creativity, both hallmarks of Josué Thomas’ artistic philosophy. The “Art That Kills” text wraps the midsole, reinforcing the rebellious spirit of both brands. Much like the OG Old Skool LX, this release blurs the lines between fashion, art, and personal expression.

Josué Thomas on Wearable Art
For Josué Thomas, the creative force behind Gallery Dept., sneakers are more than just footwear. They are a canvas for storytelling.
“The serial reproduction is a new approach for me, but at its core, it’s still the same idea—art that moves, transforms, and when worn, becomes part of the wearer’s story,” he explains.
This perspective carries forward from the previous collaboration. It reinforces his mission to blend artistry with everyday wear.
