The Air Jordan 3 Seoul returns in 2025, blending heritage design with fresh cultural storytelling for a bold new generation.

Korea’s Dream Sneaker Returns

In 1988, Korea found itself in the global spotlight. During this exciting time, Nike was hard at work crafting a sneaker icon. This icon was designed with input from none other than Michael Jordan—the original Air Jordan 3.  Thirty years later, in 2018, the Air Jordan 3 received a unique reinterpretation. The first AJ3 “Seoul” was introduced, giving the classic silhouette a fresh Korean twist. This release marked a significant moment, as it celebrated the 30th anniversary of that historic milestone in sneaker history. With this release, Nike not only honored the past but also connected with a new generation of fans.

Now, in 2025, Jordan Brand brings back the Air Jordan 3 Seoul, with renewed purpose and storytelling. More than a retro, this release honors the roots of the original while embracing the voice of Korea’s new youth culture.

Aged Look, Fresh Perspective

This updated version blends luxury and street aesthetics with a soft white leather upper and hairy suede elephant print overlays. The slightly yellowed midsole gives it a lived-in, vintage vibe, while Sport Royal, Challenge Red, and black accents mirror the iconic colors of the Taegeukgi—South Korea’s national flag.

New to the design are inner tongue messages: 꿈 (GGUEM) and 정 (JEONG). “Gguem” symbolizes dreams and ambition, while “Jeong” captures a uniquely Korean emotional bond—one that transcends time, space, and definition.

A New Generation, A New Statement

This isn’t just a sneaker—it’s a message. The 2025 AJ3 “Seoul” celebrates a generation that’s reshaping Korean identity on the world stage. It honors those pushing boundaries, redefining tradition, and expressing themselves through culture, art, and sport.

This pair features the South Korean flag proudly embroidered on the tongue. This detail makes it more than just a design update; it serves as a tribute to a significant moment from the past. This moment takes on new meaning when viewed through a modern lens. Designers create with intention, crafting pieces specifically for those who embody their values of “gguem” and “jeong” in all aspects of life. By infusing these concepts into their work, they not only honor tradition but also adapt it to contemporary contexts. Thus, the design serves as an expression of personal identity and commitment in everyday actions.

As a result, wearers can carry a piece of this cultural narrative with them wherever they go. These concepts reflect deep emotional connections and shared experiences. As a result, this footwear resonates with individuals who appreciate both tradition and contemporary style. In essence, it combines heritage with modernity, creating something truly special.
