Vans drops Curren Caples Signature Skate shoe, elevating vulcanized performance with a clean, durable silhouette made for modern skateboarding.

A Legacy of Style and Performance

Curren Caples has long been a fixture in skateboarding—raised in Ventura, California, shaped by surf and skate culture, and now one of the most respected names on the Vans Skate Team. From his early days as a child prodigy to his current role with Fucking Awesome, Curren’s evolution mirrors the culture he represents: stylish, laid-back, and always pushing forward. Now, he adds another chapter to his story with his first-ever signature shoe: the Curren by Vans Skateboarding.

A New Chapter in Vulcanized Design

The Curren silhouette introduces a refined approach to vulcanized skate shoes, a category that defines Vans’ heritage. Designed with grip, boardfeel, and support in mind, this new model is a direct reflection of Curren’s skating needs. The design includes a custom outsole pattern. It also features the Vans Sidestripe. These elements are made from Vans’ reliable SICKSTICK™ rubber compound. As a result, they provide superior traction.

The upper section features DURACAP™ underlays in high-wear areas. This design enhances durability significantly. Additionally, the POPCUSH™ insoles absorb impact during significant landings. As a result, you get a skate shoe that is minimal, durable, and performance-driven. This is exactly how Curren envisioned it.

A Fragrance-Inspired Campaign

To launch the Curren, Vans created an offbeat campaign that parodies classic fragrance ads. Shot by Gray Sorrenti and directed by Grant Yansura, the visuals blend irony with style. Cameos by Ray Barbee, Anthony Van Engelen, Geoff Rowley, Omar Hassan, and even Steve Van Doren add a unique touch to the campaign. Furthermore, these appearances establish a strong connection to Vans’ skate heritage.

“I’ve been skating Vans my whole life and never really thought I would have a shoe with my name on it,” said Curren. “It’s a pretty cool feeling! Being part of the legacy of skaters with their own shoes on Vans is truly an honor.”

Release Details and Colorways

The Curren releases globally on May 15 in red and gray/yellow colorways, alongside matching apparel at Vans stores, Vans.eu/Skate, and select skate shops. For those seeking something more exclusive, the Curren VCU in black lands early on May 1 at limited skate retailers.
