Nike and NIGO Team Up for Exclusive Streetwear Collaboration
Nigo, a renowned archivist and collage artist, is collaborating with Nike for the first time. Together, they are releasing an exclusive Air Force III silhouette and apparel collection. Nigo’s influence spans decades, from Tokyo’s streetwear scene in the 1990s to global stages today. Moreover, this partnership reflects Nigo’s love for movies, music, and traditions that have shaped his career.
The collection highlights a collector’s spirit, combining Nigo’s cultural innovation with Nike’s legacy. As a result, Leo Sandino-Taylor, VP of Global Energy Marketing, says: “He brought depth to each creative element, allowing us to be playful with his vision.”
The Air Force III: A Fusion of Pop Culture and Sneakers
At the center of the collaboration is Nigo’s exclusive Air Force III, blending pop culture and a bold new silhouette. The sneaker features a premium upper with a mix of leathers and textiles. In addition, the midsole foam and rubber outsole mirror the original AF3. Graphics on the tongue and heel pay homage to the original design and Nigo’s influences. Furthermore, each release will come with a custom box that hints at future footwear and apparel.
The experience goes beyond the shoes, including a premium patch and pin specific to the debut colorway. Ultimately, Nigo celebrates his storytelling ability through fashion, blending tradition with modern design.
Exclusive Apparel and Global Release
The accompanying apparel collection includes a varsity jacket, hoodie, and T-shirts. These pieces feature chain-stitch embroidery and custom snaps, inspired by Nigo’s favorite Japanese cartoons. Additionally, a playful version of the collection will be exclusive to China and Japan, under the brand Nike x OGIN — a nod to Nigo’s global influence.
The Nike x NIGO Air Force III and apparel collection launches on September 28 at Otsumo Plaza in Tokyo, humanmade.jp, and the “I Know Nigo 2” pop-up in New York. Then, a global launch will follow on October 4 via SNKRS and select retailers.
